Last night was interesting. Played some guitar and made a fire in the barn and had to avoid the drunken blitzkrieg of an older woman up for the reunion. Woo she was drunk. One of those people who need attention constantly or they pout. Kind of gross. the rest of the night was spectacular with many stories told by the fire of how Robert Frost invented the Bicycle, Sandwiches, Books and Fire. He's also a Samauri who fought the Nazi's and the Kieser Wilhelm. In that order. he travels through time.

The person in the pic isn't the drunk lady. that's emily. She's the granddaughter of Dixie who works in the office and she's been coming to breadloaf since she was 3.

Funny pics of trinity people that I found in the library up there too...

Flopped Sets and a Square Dance

Oh my. Just finished one of the worst poker sessions ever. Luckily it's A) Not my money and B) I've already won enough so it does little damage. Four tables busted at the same time when AA, KK, KK, JJ all lost to 1010 or 88. Wrap your head around that. I guess when you dally with percentages enough you see some wierd shit. A couple months ago I landed 2 Royal flushes in the same day... whatev. So yeah, poker sucks as the moment.

Last night was the square dance! Well the first of two, actually. we're in the middle of the reunion weekend culminating in tonights performance of scenes by our fabulous ensemble so there were lots of pretty aged folks who couldn't really shoot the oyster and duck the clam if you know what i mean. You probably don't. It's nothing dirty. i had a couple beers and rolled home and made some cash.

A little more on these scenes. We're doing some of the harder shakespeare scenes with a days rehearsal and books in hand. It's probably the most nerve wracking thing I've done in a while. It's like taking the most awkward parts of rehearsal and throwing them up on stage. I'm sure they'll love it but it aint the best work on my part. The Macbeth scene makes my skin crawl until Angela comes onstage and saves my ass.

ahh welll. Sure is perty up here...

Ummm. Less than optimal. I just drove into town for a burger (dining hall not yet operational) and as soon as I pull out of A&W the serpentine belt snaps. So I'm faced with a dillemna: do I find a mechanic or head back to the loaf with a rapidly overheating convertible? Since i have no cell phone at the moment I decide to risk it. As soon as I reach Ripton, after ignoring the car's visual pleas that she's getting to hot, a new bell sounds and I get a flashing message that "Engine Overheating Stop Engine". I pull off 125 (a tricky feat) and pop the hood. I hear a gurgling under the bell sound. It's boiling coolant?
I stop and fish for a while until the car cools. No luck, though.
I drive it the rest of the way up and pop the hood again. I'm gonna go back down and see if that damn bell has stopped.
I can hear students banging around down stairs. Not feeling ready to face anybody yet.

The arrival!

Hi folks. Welcome to my summer at the Breadloaf School of English in the woods near Ripton, VT. I'm going to do my best to keep a daily posting regemin so as to keep in touch with anyone interested. We got phones up ahheah!
I made it back. After a pretty interesting week, I made it back here. The drive was easy peasy. It rained constistently but not enough to do any damage. Just a little wet spot on my left leg where the rag top leaks. The Car performed admirably yet again after a little jaunt to DC to drop off the Caius with the everlovely Alicia. Ran over a pretty big sad spot in my heart when I passed the spot where E. snapped her clavicle. Emotional hydroplane for sure. Ah well.

Same room! Birch 6. Two beds, two dressers, two desks, and one semi-comfy chair where I sit and play cards on occasion. By the way... just played my first session at the Loaf.
10 tables of turbo 6 mans. $292.40 in just under 40 minutes. At this rate i should be up $18k by the time I leave! Right.

Ooh. i think dinner is at 5:30. Gonna go check. I got a hunger and it isn't for more cowbell.
